The quartz clock movement is installed and requires one AA battery (not included). AA batteries will typically last a couple years in a quartz clock movement device. The large clock does include a silent sweep second hand with no ticking sound, the small clock doesn't include a second hand.
Clocks are shipped completely assembled. Please be cautious when unpacking the clock as the hands are delicate, the clock is open faced and not covered by glass.
Once you receive your clock, carefully move the hands to the correct time, either by using the dial on the back, or by moving the minute hand with your finger. Then just install the AA battery.
